On May 28, 2015, the 30th Anniversary Symposium on Pelagic Fishery held by Shanghai Ocean University, and the Opening Ceremony of the Data Center for China Pelagic Fishery, was held in our university.

Zhao Xingwu, the director of the Bureau of Fishery and Fishery Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, expressed thanks for our university’s contribution to the development of pelagic fishery. He said that pelagic fishery is the pioneer in the going-out strategy of our country. Pelagic fishery has thrived in the past 30 years, and has played an important role in our country’s economic development, social progress and the maintenance of national rights and interests. He also mentioned that Wang Yang, deputy Prime Minister, praised highly the contribution made by Shanghai Ocean University, ocean enterprises and research institutes at the 30th Anniversary Symposium on the Development of China’s Pelagic Fishery, and clearly put forward the grand goal to transform our country from a big country of pelagic fishery to a power of pelagic fishery. He said that universities are the participants, promoters, supporters, sustainers, researchers, and personnel trainers in the development of China’s pelagic fishery. Universities are also the best instructors and most loved in the development of pelagic fishery. He also emphasized that the Bureau of Fishery and Fishery Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture will always support the development of the Universities.
