On September 21, 2015, Hadal Science and Technology Research Center (Hadal Center) of Shanghai Ocean University completed equipment hoisting in Lingang Assembly Plant and the submersible would be going for a sea trial in the South China Sea area. As scheduled, the sea trial would last for one month, mainly focusing on the 4000m sea test for the 11000m lander (No. 1) and the unmanned submersible, in order to prepare for the sea test in the Marianas Trench in 2016. 

Since the establishment of our Hadal Center at the end of 2013, Prof. Cui Weicheng, head of the center, has explored a new model to promote frontier sciences through non-governmental capitals and, together with his team, started to establish mobile laboratory for hadal science and technology, including research and development of one 5000-ton mother research ship, 3 full-depth landers, 1 full-depth integrated unmanned submersible and 1 full-depth manned submersible.
