On September 10-11, SHOU held the First Joint Symposium with the Department of Fisheries of Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The seminar was themed by “Sustainable Aquaculture and Aquatic Products Processing”. The five-person delegation led by Dr. Naruepon Sukumasavin, Director of the Office of Marine Fishery Research and Development of the Department of Fisheries of Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, attended the seminar. Also present at the seminar were Professors Liu Liping, Wu Xugan, and Bai Zhiyi from the College of Fisheries and Life Science; Professor Zhao Yong, Deputy Dean of the College of Food Science and Technology; Professor Wu Wenhui from the College of Food Science and Technology; and young teachers, graduate students, and international students. Zhong Junsheng, Director of the International Exchange Office, presented a speech on behalf of SHOU. The seminar was presided by Yang Jinlong, Deputy Dean of the College of Fisheries and Life Science.

In October, 2018, SHOU signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand Department of Fisheries, according to which the two sides would cooperate with the other in the fields of staff exchange, talent cultivation, scientific & technological cooperation, academic communication, etc. The seminar is an example of implementation of the memorandum of understanding, and its success marks the smooth progress of the cooperation between the two sides.
