On September 4, the 3rd Annual Meeting of Sino-Portuguese International Joint Research Center of Marine Biology was held in Meeting Room 102 of Tuwen Information Center, SHOU. Present at the annual meeting were teacher representativesand graduate students from SHOU, Ocean University of China, Dalian Ocean University, Zhejiang Ocean University, and Jiangsu Ocean University, as well as University of Algarve, University of Lisbon, University of Azores, University of Aveiro, and Portuguese Institute of Ocean and Atmosphere.

Israel Saraiva, Consul-General of the Republic of Portugal in Shanghai, and Mario Zener, Consul for Economic and Business Affairs, also attended the meeting, and extended their warm congratulations for the convening of the meeting. At the opening ceremony, Li Jiale, Vice President of SHOU, and Maria Theodosius, Vice President of the University of Algarve, gave their speeches respectively.

Professors Chen Liangbiao and Adelino Canario from the Joint Research Center spoke on behalf of the Chinese side and the Portuguese side respectively, and introduced the basic situations of the two sides and their preliminary cooperation achievements, including collaborative application for NSFC international (regional) exchange programs and for intergovernmental international cooperation in science and technology innovation programs under National Key Research and Development Projects, sending of exchange students, etc.

At the annual meeting, scholars from the Chinese side (Professor Yan Xiaojun, Professor Chen Liangbiao, Professor Hu Xiaoli, Professor Dong Zhiguo, research fellow Yang Dazuo, Professor Xu Qianghua, and Dr. Jia Liang) and the Portuguese side (Associate Professor Esther Salem, senior research fellow Ray Rosa, senior research fellow Mario Pinho, senior research fellow Abrantes, and senior research fellow Ricardo Calado) presented their academic reports on aquaculture & genetic breeding, polar marine life, marine living resources & utilization, etc. It is expected that technical breakthroughs would be made in green sustainable aquaculture patterns.
